Give us our daily Bread.
The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with us.
One of the very first things we do after birth is to communicate, with a simple cry, to the world our existence.
We have been created, and we want to announce to all that we are present.
As the years go by, we learn that communication is not only verbal, but made up of many small gestures and attentions: we introduce ourselves, we relate to one another, and above all we share and ask, always in different ways.
And with God, how do we speak?
Do we limit ourselves to using set phrases, like a voicemail message, or do we try to be ourselves?
What do we ask, and how do we ask it?
And above all: is it only asking, or also giving?
Infinitely good Father,
receive our aspirations and make them yours,
make your desires our own,
and grant us what we need most,
so that we may give you glory with the life you have given us.
In this month of August, dedicated to God the Father, we wish with all our being to thank our Creator for the gift of life and to learn to ask with the heart:
Give us our daily Bread.
