Deliver Us from Evil
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
May the Peace of the Lord always be with us!
The month of July is dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of our Savior Jesus Christ—the Blood that not only sustained His earthly life, but also gave each one of us the gift of eternal life.
“Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”
(John 6:54)
In this passage, the Lord invites us into complete communion with Him. Just as blood flows through our veins and gives life to our bodies, Jesus is our daily and eternal nourishment. Without Christ, we cannot truly live.
As we go about our lives, busy with countless responsibilities and concerns, we are not immune to temptation, error, and spiritual confusion. When we become too occupied, we often neglect prayer—the precious time we dedicate to God.
It is then that the enemy quietly begins his work. Little by little, he tries to convince us that we have more important things to do than care for the salvation of our souls. Through countless deceptions, he seeks to draw us away from God.
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”
(Ephesians 1:7)
If we cannot live without the blood that gives life to our bodies, then neither can we live without our relationship with God, which is nurtured through prayer. The moment we drift away from Him, the enemy, like a roaring lion, seeks to devour us.
“Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.”
(1 Peter 5:8)
Our kidneys work silently to keep our bodies alive by filtering out what is harmful. Prayer does exactly the same for our souls. Every time we pray, we open ourselves to God’s grace, which purifies our hearts and frees them from everything that weighs them down.
During this 156th International Prayer Marathon, we wish to strengthen our faith, reject every form of evil, and overcome the temptations of the devil.
Let us remain steadfast in Christ, who shed His Precious Blood for us and continues to deliver us from evil.
