Sacred Heart of Jesus, teach us to love.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

May the peace of the Lord be with us!

The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and with our monthly prayer marathon, we want to meditate on this great gift of love from God the Father.

“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:9-10)

From a young age, we learn to encapsulate our emotions in the symbol of the heart, in our first drawings, and in the letters to our parents. As we grow, the same symbol is directed towards our loved ones. However, nowadays, the heart symbol is sometimes misused in online applications, being used not so much as a symbol of deep love but of pleasure.

The symbol of the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus is different.

It encompasses the immense act of love from God the Father in giving us Jesus as our Savior, and Jesus offering himself for us.

Amidst this reciprocally shared love, there we are: yes, you and I… Have we ever thought about how important we are to God?

And is God important to us?
