Powerful drugs: take a look and have a listen….
Summer brings us a holiday atmosphere, but every continent on earth has different seasons so we do not think about places where people are suffering from cold when we live in the summer. But there is a cold much more frigid and damaging than that of nature; It is the cold indifference of the hearts of some men to the pain of others, those who in prayers call them “brothers”.
There are many degrees of sadness that can not be overcome with some phrases of optimism, perhaps because we are not used to sharing time with people who for various reasons this sadness becomes a difficult disease called depression.
It is not a lack or loss of faith, it is often a silent struggle with a disease that “hides” for a long time. The most important thing is to enter into empathy with the pain of another, to be aware of the need of the “brother” to be heard, and not to lightly judge the people suffering from this pain as a sickness of the soul, which in reality It is a disease we must seek to know and to inform us about how to help. Jesus said that the illnesses were allowed to show the glory and power of his heavenly Father in the victory over these.
Jesus never let depressed leap for joy, on the contrary, he remained close to the suffering with the true peace and serenity of listening and understanding of suffering, giving hope and transforming hearts.
How many lives can God ask us to take care in his name? Maybe with a little time to listen, we can do it, and as Pope Francis said, “Announcing the Gospel with the Word and even before, with life.” We ask for the grace that the sorrow of our brothers can really bring us, because God takes care of them, but he also needs us.
