Deliver us from evil

Dearest Brothers and Sisters in Christ

May the peace of Jesus our Lord always be with us

The month of July is dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of Jesus and as every year our monthly prayer marathon focuses on a specific request to our Lord: Deliver us from evil

In his letter to the Philippians, Saint Paul clearly proclaims that Jesus, though being of divine nature, did not hesitate to strip Himself for us, humbling Himself unto death, even death on a cross. He continues by saying that God the Father gave Him the name above all names:

“So that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend in heaven on earth and under the earth and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10–11)

This is one of the pillars of our faith. In our daily battles we draw strength from the name of our Savior in every attack from the infernal enemy both visible and invisible, against our own bad habits, against every type of wrongdoing. Let us remind one another that the Lord died for us. We are of great worth in God’s eyes. Let us not waste that

In a society that arrogantly insists it does not need God and that mocks the Christian faith, we like the apostles in the Upper Room fix our minds on what Jesus has done for us and what the devil constantly tries to do against us

Let us build our world of peace beginning with our families, our workplaces, and in making the right choices especially in the small everyday gestures that are the training ground of our souls

“Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:9)

Indeed the enemy, a skilled influencer to use a word very much in fashion nowadays, with many tactics tries to persuade us to go astray. And as a cunning deceiver he plants small seeds of hatred and anger in our hearts, which if nurtured like weeds choke the seed of eternal life

With eyes wide open, hearts firm and minds clear, let us ask Jesus
