The prejudice that separates us from God
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
This month we would like to address an issue that has always been present in our lives by limiting our the freedom and communion: prejudice.
2 On the sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astounded. They said, “Where did this man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What deeds of power are being done by his hands! 3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary[a] and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.
Mark 6:1-6
Jesus too was a victim of prejudice, many in the synagogue lost their chance to receive him, receive his message and the healing of the body and heart.
How many times we deprive ourselves of new friends, new cultural exchanges, tips and messages? We are afraid of people we classify: dangerous, bad, of different ethnicities, indecent, sinful, needy, lying or terrorist?
How many evils and injustices are done to the weakest and do not make headlines?
How many pre-concepts and judgments separate us from the truth?
And if God is talking to us through them?
