God is within us
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Jesus is risen, alleluia. He is truly risen, alleluia!
We are still in the Easter season: let us rejoice in the Resurrection of our Savior. Life has conquered death, the light of God has overcome the darkness of evil and sin. In our hearts we carry the hope and joy of Jesus, who does not abandon us and who remains with us even in the darkest times.
“Behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
(Matthew 28:20)
In recent months, we have witnessed the outbreak of another war in the Middle East: many people have lost their lives and many families have been destroyed, along with their homes and personal belongings.
All for pride and the thirst for power.
In all these situations, we ask ourselves: why does God allow all this?
Why have so many children been mutilated, killed, and left orphaned?
Where is the risen Jesus who promised to be with us, within us, until the end of the world?
In the Gospel of Luke, in the passage of the disciples on the road to Emmaus, they speak with Jesus without recognizing Him; only at the end of the day, when they invite Him to stay with them and the Lord breaks the bread, their eyes are opened. Likewise, in the Gospel of John, the disciples do not recognize the Master.
Luke 24:31
“Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized Him. And He vanished from their sight.”
John 21:4
“Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.”
And are we able to recognize Jesus?
Where do we look for Him, and with what eyes? What image do we have of Him, and of what nationality?
These Gospel passages teach us to seek God in our daily lives and to prepare a special place in our hearts, where the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit may dwell with us, within us.
