The Word creates or acts on creation.
In the story of creation, God says, speaks, and the reality comes into existence. (cfr. 1.3 in Gen, ‘God said – Let there be light – and there was light’; 1.6 in Gen, ‘God said – there be a firmament in the midst of the waters’; 1.9 in Gen,’ God said – Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together into one place, and let dry ground appear – and so it happened ‘; see. also in Gen 1:11; 1:14; Ps 33.6,’ by the word of the Lord the heavens were made … He spoke, and it was done, he spoke, and it is done, commanded, and it exists ‘; Ps 147.15: ‘He sends out his command to the earth, his word runs swiftly. He gives snow like wool , he scatters frost like ashes… sends out his word to melts them… ‘). Even late reflection of the wise of Israel goes in this direction. Wisdom 9.1, “O God of my ancestors and Lord of mercy,
who have made all things by your word,; Sir 42,15, By the word of the Lord his works are made;; Sir 39,17, ‘At his word the water stops’. His creative power is not less, and every time you leave to enter works in us a new creation. Our life itself has been called into existence by a word out of the mouth of God. (Continued)
