The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord
The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord is the feast day of our baptism . It would not be very useful celebrate the baptism of Jesus and the beginning of his public life if we do not remember that we too have been “renewed ” with baptism and were reaffirmed in our faith with our confirmation. There ‘s no way to remember the baptism of Jesus if it was not because we can all remember our own baptism.
How many of us celebrate every year on the day of our baptism with the same solemnity of our birthday? How many of us have pointed out the date of our baptism and confirmation amongst the important dates in our lives?
To be baptized and confirmed , or being born into a Christian family or belonging to any religious organization (church , group, association, etc. ) we can not say that we have faith.
Faith is much more than a simple membership or compliance with laws and obligations and daily prayers. Faith is the real commitment in building the Kingdom of God, love for good delivery of all the brothers , especially the needy and those who do not know the Gospel .
The ‘’personal ‘’ faith is the search of the person of Christ in ourselves and in our daily lives and it is the kind of faith required by every apostle , disciple and missionary , all people involved in building the Kingdom and in the announcement of the Gospel.
There will always be opportunities to make more personal faith into concrete commitments of love and service , to be visible and credible in our family or community and wherever the Lord sends us as witnesses.
Faith is something that you are looking for and deserving , as the grace of God If you look , it is not denied by God .
This is the faith that the world needs today a personal faith and commitment , and because ‘ based on the testimony of our daily lives .
A faith that started the ‘ adventure on the day that John the Baptist met Jesus in the Jordan and baptized him. And he, in turn, sent us : ” Go and make disciples … baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit … ” (Mt 28: 19-20).
Here our life is based, consistent and committed , more fraternal and more happy!
Each of us knows: should just let God be God in our daily lives .
