When it is hard to love?
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
The terrorist attacks from Syria, Lebanon, France, Iraq, Kenya and other parts of the world have deeply upset us . We lived our powerlessness and drawn the most effective but forgotten weapon to fight the evil forces : the prayer.
Even people far from any religious path they shared on social networks, with messages and speeches the need to pray, to be united in God’s love.
In prayer we seek contact with God, the Creator who made us for love and can live in each of us at the sole condition of being ready to love Him and our neighbor as ourselves following His commandments.
15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. 17 This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you.
18 “I will not leave you orphaned; I am coming to you.
John 14 : 15-18
When it’s hard to love?
When we fail to forgive, and we do the same game as the malign in hating and accumulate anger against those who harm to us.
If we live according to the law “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”, we will never escape from the spiral of evil. The evil one is clever, and deludes us into thinking that with our human justice we can save ourselves and save the world! In reality, only the justice of God can save us! And the justice of God is revealed in the Cross: the Cross is the judgement of God on us all and on this world. But how does God judge us? By giving his life for us! Here is the supreme act of justice that defeated the prince of this world once and for all; and this supreme act of justice is the supreme act of mercy. Jesus calls us all to follow this path: “Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful” (Lk 6:36)
Pope Francis
If God gave his only son for our salvation we ought to give our hearts and our prayers to save ourselves and those who still live in darkness.
In this jubilee of Mercy then without resistance Let us offer ourselves to the Father, united in prayer for a world of love.
Waiting for the Holy Christmas , let us clean up the our hearts and prepare a special place for Jesus, the Emmanuel, God with us, within us.
