I Thirst

We are in a very special period of the liturgical year. Lent, a time of prayer, fasting and alms giving.

Each one of us is invited to spend these 40 days in special intimacy with the Lord.

With the prayer of soul, fasting especially from everything that keeps usa way from God and doing acts of charity and alms giving.

Sometimes we ask ourselves what can we give? What does Jesus needs from us?

In the Gospel of John 4:7 ,

Jesus who is God, maker of the universe, made man for us, asks the Samarian woman, an essential need for human existence : water to drink.

Then He adds ( John 4:13) :

“whoever drinks this water will be thirsty again, but no one who drinks the water that I shall give will ever be thirsty again”.

Our Lord promises us that by drinking of “his water”, “his grace” and “mercy” we will be fulfilled for eternity but not exepemted from earthly sufferings.

Love requires sacrifices, the same love shown by Jesus on the cross when He says to us

 ‘’ I thirst

I thirst foe you, for your being,

for your capacity to lov, because you were created to love.

I thirst for your frailty and for your abandonement to me/

I thirst for you, because as water is needed to live, you need me to gain and enjoy the eternal life.

I thirst for you to quench the thirst of the world”.

In this 50th International Prayer Marathon , we ask our Lord to be always thirsty for him, to drink of His water and share it with the whole world. We pray for this prayer marathon project, for all of you that have subscribed trough ugh the years , for all those suffering in body and spirit, for all those away from God that cannot recognize what are they thirsty for.
