How precious is your time?
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Jesus’ invitation in the readings of the last few days is to be ready for His coming.
Keep awake therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour. ( Matthew 25:13)
Keep awake therefore, for you do not know on what day[a] your Lord is coming. ( Matthew 24:42)
“Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many,
I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able. ( Luke 13:24)
With these words the Lord asks us to remain vigilant following his commandments and especially requires our commitment to prepare for His coming.
If we are waiting for a loved one coming after a long absence, we prepare ourselves to receive him in the best way, we want to welcome him with a smile on our lips, a sincere smile, to show how much we care.
We all know that is not always easy to stay faithful, obedient to the teachings of our Master but the Lord can read our heart and our ” smile ”, He knows our limits and efforts, our sufferings and impediments. Being human sometimes we try to concentrate our forces in accumulating material goods, to try to make our future safe and limiting the time to invest in the relationship with God.
«.. And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.’ 20 But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life is being demanded of you. And the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So it is with those who store up treasures for themselves but are not rich toward God. » ( Luke 12 : 19-21)
We want in this 43rd Marathon of prayer, to remind ourselves to remain ready, to enrich ourselves before God simply by opening our hearts to His love.
Material possessions corrode, crumble, rust and age but God does not change and does not forget his children.
We remember all the people who are suffering, especially the victims of the earthquake happened in Italy, where a large number of people have lost their lives. Although we can not directly help our brothers in difficulty, Let us remember them in our prayer that is the most precious time because it is the time with God
